Yeah, I've had a bunch of huge lag spikes and disconnects/err007 the past few days. Usually happens when an update is forthcoming.

Maybe we can expect something nice soon? Probably not, though. :<

It would really help the support and network teams if you could send in a support ticket with as much information as possible (what time did the incident happen? what were you doing at the time? etc.) so that if there is a problem on our side, they can start tracking that data and pinpointing any issues. The more details the better.

Weird, I got an error 7 about an hour ago right as the mission timer went to zero, but I haven't really had any lag lately.

I normally have really terrible lag, but maybe it's my new computer.....

I've been having some lag and packet loss on occasion, but PingPlotter showed that it was coming from my ISP.

I heard today that lag is bad because anet is running GW2 on the same servers as GW... (in closed beta)

after about 10-15 emails to and from plaync support team, although they seem friendly enough, they dont seem to have a clue why i am lagging so bad these last 3-5 days.

they tried to tell me my graphics card drivers could cause 10k pings and to update them :S

they said that running windowblinds could cause 10k pings and i should uninstall it :S

they said that having 8 items booting up on computer start could cause 10k pings :S

im confident my pc is running sweet, im having no other issues with anything other than hitting 10k pings in guildwars. it really is unplayable

tech support is generally done by office cubicle drones reading off of a script. the hope is to make you chase in circles and hopefully the issue will solve itself. ncsoft support is no different.

and really, unless there's something obviously wrong that you can immediately change on your end, you pretty much just sit tight and hope it goes away on its own. the way internet access is set up in north america (and possibly europe, but i'm not sure), is that web content providers (such as GW) are not customers of ISPs and vice versa, so there's no incentive for either side to resolve networking issues. asking your ISP to find out why connecting to a service is bad will generally result in a "sorry, they are not our customers. go deal with them" reply. same if you contact that service.

Default Solution to Map Loading Problems

For those who are experiencing the problem of getting stuck at loading 0%, taking a very long time to load and getting very bad pings of >2000ms after the long load, I experienced it too shortly after the 4th year anniversary updates were rolled out.

I managed to solve this problem and surprisingly it has nothing to do with your ISP or ANET's servers. The problem lies in the Guild Wars data file.

Rename/delete/move your old gw.dat and get a new copy, preferably from the EoTN install disc and try logging in again. The problem *should* be solved... it worked for me twice.

Yes, you will have to re-download all the updates after that but it did teach me to keep regular backups of the gw.dat file should the problem come back again.

N.B. I have not tried the command switch to repair the data archive... it might work if anyone wants to give it a try

N.B.2. Regina if you see this, could you pass this unusual workaround to the relevant guys so that they can determine the cause and work out a remedy?

i'm getting frequent 4-10k lag spikes dc'ing and all the errors previously mentioned. My only thought is it may have something to do with the merging of the servers. I've never had any problems with lag before and it's only just started this last week.

I'm now logging in and monitoring ping for 5 mins to see if it's worthwhile gaming. Nothing worse than vanquishing and then taking a hefty boot to the clackers 1/2 way through.

Lots of problems getting stuck on 0% load when zoning. Also a few 007's and 058's. Filed a support ticket with NCSoft (with a link to this thread), and they've been as helpful as they always are. :|

Edit:
Just got another reply asking me to update Windows, check my system for on overabundance of running processes (there are *very* few), and disable any anti-virus or security software. Very helpful.

@Regina: If you'd like us to file support tickets for an issue that seems to be affecting a lot of players, it'd be nice if we weren't talked-down-to by support. The support rep implied that I was wasting their time because I wasn't interested in following their ridiculous troubleshooting steps. The time wasted was mine - for bothering to file a ticket in the first place.

Real lags in this game are pretty rare for me, but today I've had them alot. I was loading like 20 seconds on 0% in HA (but no lags while playing, probably because most matchest were on euro servers) and died a couple times on a lagspike while farming essences (this stopped when I switched back to eu districts).
